Women who are habitual consumers of fruits and vegetables are less likely to die from cardiovascular diseases.
This study assessed the relationship between high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables and the risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease-related death. Researchers following over 250,000 people found a lower incidence of cardiovascular mortality among women who regularly consumed large servings of fruits and vegetables. The cardioprotective effect of fruits and vegetables was not found in men in this study. The findings of this study show increased consumption of diets loaded with fruits and vegetables may decrease the incidence of cardiovascular mortality in women.
