Eating green and yellow vegetables daily may help to maintain and strengthen the bones of young women.

This research work evaluated the effect of daily consumption of green and yellow vegetables on the bone mass of young women. With the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers examined the diets of 101 Japanese women aged 20-21 years. The bone density of all the participants was also calculated.

Researchers discovered that participants who did not consume green and yellow vegetables daily were 5 times more likely to have low bone mass compared to their colleagues who ate these vegetables every day. "In conclusion, daily intake of green and yellow vegetables is effective for maintaining bone mass in young women," the authors wrote.
