Going vegan may not only help normalize the blood pressure of patients with hypertension but also minimize their needs for medication.

This study sets out to determine the effectiveness of vegan diet in the treatment of hypertension. Researchers placed 29 patients who were diagnosed with hypertension 8 years ago and receiving antihypertensive medications on vegan diet for a duration of 1 year.

At the end of the dietary intervention, researchers observed that the blood pressure of all the patients was reduced and normalized, with nearly all of them stopping their medications. This study suggests that vegan diet should be included as part of a dietary approach in the management of hypertension.
