Soft drink and juice consumption and risk of pancreatic cancer: the Singapore Chinese Health Study.

Habitual drinking of soft drinks may promote the formation of cancerous cells and tumors in the pancreas.

This study investigated the link between regular consumption of juice and soft drinks and the tendency to acquire pancreatic cancer. Researchers examined 14 years worth of dietary and health records from 60,524 men and women who participated in the Singapore Chinese Health Study.

Researchers noted that individuals who drank 2 or more soft drinks per week were more likely to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer than their colleagues who did not consume these beverages. This study provides strong evidence that habitual intake of soft drinks may contribute to the onset of pancreatic cancer.
