Habitual intake of soy foods may help fend off cognitive impairment in elderly women.

This study evaluated whether likeness for soy foods can protect elderly men and women from cognitive impairment. Researchers charted soy food consumption against cognitive function in a study group comprising of 775 Japanese men and women aged 60-81 years. 

The team of researchers discovered that women who preferred consuming soy foods had slight chances of suffering from cognitive impairment compared to their counterparts who ate little or none of these plant foods. This study shed more light on the beneficial effect of soy foods on cognitive function in elderly women.
