Meta-analysis of Soy Consumption and Gastrointestinal Cancer Risk

Regular ingestion of soy foods may hinder the development of gastric (stomach) cancer in females.

The aim of this study was to perform a meta-analysis on data obtained from studies that explored the relationship between the intake of soy foods and the risk of acquiring gastro-intestinal cancer. Researchers sifted through data drawn out from 22 studies.

Researchers found out the risk of gastric (stomach) cancer in decreased with increased consumption of soy foods in females, but not in males. The data from this study support the role of soy foods as a protective factor against stomach cancer in females.
