Ultra-processed food intake and prevalence of osteoporosis in US adults aged 50 years and older: a cross-sectional analysis

Ardent consumption of ultra-processed foods may promote the development of osteoporosis in middle-aged and elderly individuals.

This study dissected the evidence supporting the intake of ultra-processed foods as a risk factor for the development of osteoporosis in middle-aged and older adults. Researchers scrutinized the dietary and medical records of hundreds of US men and women aged 50 years and above.

Researchers observed that osteoporosis was prevalent among high consumers of ultra-processed foods. According to the results of this study, greater adherence of ultra-processed foods may facilitate the onset of osteoporosis in middle-aged and elderly men and women.
