Marijuana as Promoter for Oral Cancer? More Than a Suspect

Regular smoking of marijuana may drive up the risk of oral cancer.

This study investigated the marijuana-oral cancer connection hypothesis. Data on marijuana smoking habits and incidence of oral cancer were obtained through hospital records. 

Researchers noticed that marijuana use increased the rate of occurrence of oral cancer. This study adds to the growing number of scientific literature describing the smoking of marijuana as a lifestyle habit that may contribute to the development of oral cancer.
