Regular intake of high-fiber foods may help slash the risk of cancer.

​This study assessed the risk of cancer associated with consistent consumption of high-fiber diets using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers pooled data extracted from 19 studies that compared the effects of high-fiber and low-fiber diets on the odds of having cancer. 

Researchers found out that subjects who consumed the most amounts of high-fiber foods had lower chances of developing several types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, esophagus, colon, rectum, pancreas, and stomach, than their counterparts who rarely ate these plant foods. The findings of this study show that following a high-fiber diet can substantially reduce the risk of many types of cancer.
