Regular consumption of fiber-rich foods may help to cut down the risk of developing periodontal disease.

This study evaluated the role high-fiber diets play in the prevention of periodontal disease. Researchers followed 6,052 American adults for 3 years and compared dietary habits with the incidence of periodontal disease.

Researchers observed that a decline in the risk of periodontal disease was associated with the consumption of high-fiber diets. Evidence from this study suggest that habitual intake of foods with high fiber content may be beneficial in the prevention of periodontal disease.
