Dietary fiber intake and risk of renal cell carcinoma: evidence from a meta-analysis.

Generous intake of fiber-rich foods may confer individuals with significant protection against kidney (renal) cancer.

This study was carried out to confirm the protective effect of high-fiber foods, such as vegetables and legumes, against cancer of the kidney (renal cell carcinoma). Researchers analyzed data from 7 studies that examined the link between the intake of fiber-rich diets and renal cancer risk.

Researchers found out that subjects at the top of the dietary fiber consumption ladder had better chances of evading kidney cancer than their counterparts who ate little or no fiber-containing foods. The results of this meta-analysis indicate that high-fiber diets may have protective effect against renal cancer.
