Consistent consumption of generous portions of fruits and vegetables may help curb the onset of severe knee pain in older adults.

This study evaluated the impact high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables have on the severity of knee pain in the elderly. Researchers charted fruit and vegetable consumption against self-reported knee pain among 6,588 Korean men and women aged 50 years and above.

Researchers discovered that participants who consumed the most amounts of fruits and vegetables experienced less severe knee pain. "Our findings suggest that intake of whole fruits and vegetables may help improve knee pain in older adults," the authors concluded.
