Generous consumption of fruits and vegetables may help guard against the occurrence of coronary heart disease.

This study explored the impact of high fruit and vegetable diet on the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). Researchers used a combination of questionnaires and hospital records to follow the health and dietary habits of 113,276 US men and women. 

Researchers observed that avid consumption of large amounts of fruits and vegetables diminished the risk of coronary heart disease. This study sheds more light on the protective role of high fruit and vegetable diet against coronary heart disease.
