Avid consumption of fruits may make cancer less likely to occur in the distal region of the stomach in men.

This study assessed whether fondness for fruits and vegetables can be beneficial in the prevention of cancers in the distal portion of stomach. Researchers charted the rate of consumption of fruits and vegetables against the occurrence of gastric cancer among 338 men and women recruited from the Shanghai Men and Women Health Study.

Researchers noted that the higher the frequency and amounts of fruits consumed, the lower the chances of having cancer in the distal region of the stomach in men. This study highlights the positive impact of fruits in the prevention of gastric cancer in men.
