Devout consumption of fruits and vegetables can help halt the development of frailty in the elderly population.

This study investigated the intake of fruits and vegetables in relation to the occurrence of frailty in older adults using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers used data extracted from eligible studies on the subject. 

Data analysis identified a protective association between high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables and diminished risk of frailty among individuals aged 60 years and above. "Increasing fruit and vegetable consumption can be a relevant strategy to prevent frailty," the authors concluded.
