Citrus fruit intake and the risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Greater intake of citrus fruits may help fend off nasopharyngeal cancer.

This meta-analysis seek to clarify the relationship between the frequency of consumption of citrus fruits and the chances of developing nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers compiled the dietary and health records of over 7,000 men and women who took part in 9 studies.

Researchers noticed that participants who ate citrus fruits at least 4 times per week enjoyed a 21% reduction in nasopharyngeal cancer risk. These results support dietary intake of citrus fruits as a viable preventive measure against nasopharyngeal cancer.
