By how much does fruit and vegetable consumption reduce the risk of ischaemic heart disease?

A significant reduction in ischemic heart disease risk is associated with habitual consumption of fruits and vegetables.

​This study examined the risk of ischemic heart disease (IHD) associated with the intake of fruits and vegetables using a meta-analytic approach. Data from relevant studies were reviewed for this meta-analysis. 

Researchers found out the individuals on the top of the fruit and vegetable consumption ladder had 15% lower risk of developing ischemic heart disease than their colleagues who ate little or none of these foods. This study highlights the importance of diets high in fruits and vegetables in the prevention of ischemic heart disease.
