Walking and running are associated with similar reductions in cataract risk

Adopting a physically active lifestyle that involves walking and running may help to halt the formation of cataracts in men and women.

Can engaging in physical activity, such as walking and running, protect us from cataracts? Researchers attempted to answer this question using lifestyle and health data obtained from 47,527 men and women.

Researchers observed that the risk of developing cataracts declined among individuals who did a lot of walking and running. This study offered additional insight into the role physical activity plays in the prevention of cataracts.
