The reverse association of dietary antioxidant index with osteoporosis in postmenopausal iranian women: A case-control study

Elevated consumption of foods high in antioxidants may help to thwart the development of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

This study assessed the contribution of habitual intake of antioxidant-containing foods with regards to the prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Researchers scrutinized the dietary and medical records of 440 postmenopausal women from Iran.

Researchers identified a trend of decreasing rates of osteoporosis with increasing consumption of antioxidant-rich foods in the study population. The results of this study highlight the significance of dietary antioxidants in lowering the risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
