Regular consumption of antioxidant-containing foods, such as fruits and vegetables, may help to enhance lung function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

This research work studied the effect of high intake of antioxidant from food sources, such as fruits and vegetables, on the lung function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A total of 120 COPD patients participated in this study and were divided into 2 groups. One group was placed on high fruit and vegetable diet (the intervention group) and the second group on a free diet (the control group).

Researchers observed that participants in the intervention group had better lung function than those in the control group. The results of this study show that following a diet high in antioxidant-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, may help to improve lung function in patients with COPD.
