High dietary antioxidant intake linked to lower risk of myocardial infarction: a nested case-control study
Opting for a high antioxidant diet may favor the prevention of myocardial infarction.
This study explored the correlation between regular dietary exposure to antioxidants and the odds of suffering from myocardial infarction (MI). Researchers collated data on the diets and incidence of myocardial infarction among 11,097 Iranian men and women.
Researchers noted that generous consumption of antioxidants from food sources diminished the risk of developing myocardial infarction. "Promoting diets rich in antioxidants presents a straightforward and effective strategy for MI prevention and the promotion of cardiovascular health, underscoring the novelty and significance of this research in dietary approaches to disease prevention," the study authors concluded.
