​This study explored the relationship between the use of cannabis and the risk of developing a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia, in adolescents and young adults. Researchers examined data and evidence obtained from eligible studies. 

The team of investigators found out that regular use of cannabis promoted the development of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, especially among persons with a family history of the disease. This study concluded that usage of cannabis may facilitate the onset of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders in adolescents and young adults.
