Indulgence in smoked meat may lead to a spike in nasopharyngeal cancer risk.

This study focused on the relationship between fondness for smoked meat and the propensity to develop nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers collated and analyzed data on the dietary habits of 43 persons with nasopharyngeal cancer and 84 individuals without an history of the disease residing in Saudi Arabia. 

The team of investigators found out that the likelihood of being diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer was high among devout consumers of smoked meat. This study affirmed that the notion that consistent consumption of smoked meat may put an individual at high risk of acquiring nasopharyngeal cancer.
