Cured meat intake is associated with worsening asthma symptoms

Habitual intake of cured meat may aggravate symptoms of asthma.

This study examined the severity of asthma symptoms based on the level of consumption of cured meat. Researchers matched dietary intake of cured meat with the occurrence of symptoms of asthma among 971 men and women.

The team of investigators discovered that avid consumers of cured meat reported higher frequency and more severe symptoms of asthma. This study pointed out that fondness for cured meat may worsen asthma symptoms.
