Association between processed meat and red meat consumption and risk for glioma: a meta-analysis from 14 articles.

Frequent consumers of processed meats may a have high tendency of developing glioma.

This study evaluated the relationship between high dietary intake of processed and red meat and the risk of developing glioma by meta-analysis. Seventeen studies that examined 4,797 cases of glioma were included in this meta-analysis.

The team of investigators observed a significant elevation in glioma risk among regular consumers of processed meats. On the other hand, generous intake of red meat was found to have no significant effect on the odds of developing glioma in this study. The results of this meta-analysis show that high dietary ingestion of processed meats may increase the incidence of glioma in the general population.
