Risk of Alcohol Consumption in Bladder Cancer: Case-Control Study from a Nationwide Inpatient Database in Japan

Regular drinking of alcohol may favor the development of bladder cancer.

This study assessed the influence of alcohol consumption on the incidence of bladder cancer. Researchers from the University of Tokyo compared the alcohol drinking habits of 739 patients with bladder cancer with that of 7,196 healthy Japanese men and women. 

Researchers found higher number of bladder cancer diagnoses among alcohol consumers than never consumers. The data from this study show that alcohol drinking might facilitate the onset of bladder cancer.
