Alcohol use disorders and mortality: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Individuals with alcohol use disorder may have a high propensity to suffer from premature deaths.

​This study investigated the link between alcohol abuse and mortality risk using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data drawn out from 81 studies. 

Researchers noticed that individuals suffering from alcohol use disorders had higher probability of dying prematurely than their peers who did not drink alcohol. The data from this study demonstrate that alcohol abuse may be associated with high mortality risk.
