Alcohol consumers may have a high propensity to develop cutaneous melanoma, the most aggressive type of skin cancer.

The objective of this study was to determine the role alcohol consumption plays in the development of cutaneous melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer. A team of researchers from Italy conducted a meta-analysis on data drawn out from 16 studies.

The researchers found out that light, moderate, and heavy drinkers of alcohol faced a higher risk of developing cutaneous melanoma than non-consumers of alcoholic beverages. Evidence from this study show that alcohol intake may contribute to the rising incidence of cutaneous melanoma worldwide.
