Alcohol use may precipitate the development of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD).

This meta-analysis looked at the probability of developing gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) among consumers and non-consumers of alcohol. Researchers reviewed the findings of 29 eligible studies.

Researchers discovered that the chances of suffering from gastro-esophageal reflux disease rose with increased frequency and duration of alcohol usage. Evidence from this study affirm that the odds of developing gastro-esophageal reflux disease may be stacked against high consumers of alcohol.
