Statin therapy and risk of developing type 2 diabetes: a meta-analysis.

Individuals on statin therapy are susceptible to type 2 diabetes.

This study examined the relationship between statin usage and type 2 diabetes risk by meta-analysis. Researchers analyzed data on statin intake and the odds of developing diabetes mellitus obtained from relevant published studies. They observed that a small increase in type 2 diabetes risk appear to be related to statin use. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that statin intake might be a risk factor for diabetes mellitus.
