Tricyclic Antidepressant Use and Risk of Fractures: A Meta-Analysis of Cohort and Case-Control Studies

Users of medications in the class of tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) may be at risk of suffering from fracture.

 This meta-analysis evaluated studies associating increased risk of fracture with the use of antidepressant drugs belonging to the tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) class. A total of 12 studies were included in this meta-analysis. 

Researchers noted that frequent usage of tricyclic antidepressants correlated with heightened risk of fracture. This study concluded that treatment with tricyclic antidepressants may promote the occurrence of fracture.
