Smokers are exposed to greater risk of stroke.

This meta-analysis investigated the influence of cigarette smoking on stroke risk. Twenty-five studies that examined more than 3 million individuals were deemed appropriate for this meta-analysis.

Researchers observed that current and former smokers had increased propensity to develop stroke compared to never smokers. This study arrived at the conclusion that "the risk of different types of stroke among smokers is remarkably high."
