Plant-based and vegetarian diets are associated with reduced obstructive sleep apnoea risk
The odds of enjoying a life devoid of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may be tilted in favor of men and women adhering to a healthy plant-based diet.
This study assessed the probability of suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) among 14,210 men and women based on their level of consumption of plant foods. Data on the nutritional habits and obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis status of all the participants were obtained through dietary questionnaires and hospital records.
Researchers noted that following a healthy plant-based diet slashed an individual's risk of developing obstructive sleep apnea. The findings of this study revealed that maintaining a healthy plant-based diet may help to fend off obstructive sleep apnea in men and women.
