Higher dietary phytochemical index is associated with lower odds of knee osteoarthritis
The probability of enjoying a life devoid of knee osteoarthritis may be high among devout consumers of phytochemical-rich foods.
This study assessed the odds of having knee osteoarthritis among 248 individuals based on their level of consumption of phytochemical-containing foods. Data on the dietary habits and incidence rates of knee osteoarthritis were obtained from validated food frequency questionnaires and hospital records.
Data analysis revealed that participants fond of ingesting foods rich in phytochemicals exhibited a significant reduction in their risk of developing knee osteoarthritis. This study suggested that cultivating the habit of eating phytochemicals from food sources may reduce an individual's tendency to suffer from knee osteoarthritis.
