Association between the Dietary Phytochemical Index and Lower Prevalence of Obesity in Korean Preschoolers
Generous ingestion of foods high in phytochemicals may help curtail the development of obesity in pre-school children.
This study looked at how the rate of consumption of foods loaded with phytochemicals influences the burden of obesity in children. Researchers monitored the dietary habits and body mass index (BMI) of 1,196 Korean pre-school children within the age bracket of 3-5 years.
Researchers found out that higher intake of phytochemical-rich foods correlated with lower prevalence of childhood obesity. This study recognized the contribution of phytochemical-containing foods in the prevention of obesity in children.
