Dietary inflammatory index and its association with risk of metabolic syndrome and its components: a systematic review and Meta-analysis of Observational studies
Consuming a pro-inflammatory diet may fuel the development of metabolic syndrome.
This study dissected the body of evidence extracted from past studies linking the consumption of pro-inflammatory foods with the development of metabolic syndrome. Up to 25 studies met the inclusion criteria for this meta-analysis.
Researchers observed that the likelihood of developing metabolic syndrome was tilted against individuals with high intake of pro-inflammatory foods. The findings of this study reflect the presence of a strong association between adherence to a pro-inflammatory diet and increased risk of metabolic syndrome.
