The association between dietary inflammatory index, dietary antioxidant index, and mental health in adolescent girls: an analytical study

Diets that encourage the consumption of antioxidant-rich foods may provide adolescent girls with a strong buffer against mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression.

This study examined how the inflammatory properties of a diet can impact the mental of adolescent girls. Researchers scrutinized the dietary and mental health records of 364 adolescent girls from Iran.

Researchers noted that the odds of evading mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression, were tilted in favor of participants on high antioxidant diets. "Our results highlighted the importance of a healthy and anti-inflammatory diet on mental health in female adolescents," the authors concluded.
