Exploring the association between pro-inflammatory diets and chronic liver diseases: evidence from the UK Biobank
Individuals on pro-inflammatory diets may have high tendency of suffering from chronic liver disease (CLD).
This research work was carried out to determine if elevated consumption of pro-inflammatory foods is tied to the development of chronic liver disease (CLD). Researchers surveyed the diets of 121,329 UK men and women for nearly 2 years. During the course of the study, 4,018 participants were diagnosed with chronic liver disease.
Researchers found out that the odds of developing chronic liver disease went up with generous intake of pro-inflammatory foods. On the other hand, frequent ingestion of anti-inflammatory foods was observed to lower an individual's propensity to come with chronic liver disease in this study. The data from this study support the inclusion of more anti-inflammatory foods to our diet in order to increase our chances of curtailing the development of chronic liver disease.
