Impact of male obesity on infertility: a critical review of the current literature.
Obesity is associated with male infertlity.
This study investigated the effect of obesity on male infertility. After reviewing several studies on obesity and male infertility, researchers discovered a higher incidence of subfertility, abnormal sperm parameters, and male factor infertility among obese men. Low serum concentrations of SHBG, androgen, and inhibin B but high plasma levels of estrogen were found in heavier men.
This study suggested that sexual dysfunction, unhealthy lifestyle, and impaired metabolism of environmental toxins increased infertility risk in obese males. The findings of this research work support the hypothesis that obesity promotes infertility in males.
