Regular intake of the sleeping pill zolpidem may boost an individual's chances of receiving a diagnosis of glaucoma.

This study explored the relationship between regular popping of the sleeping pill zolpidem and the occurrence of glaucoma. Researchers compared zolpidem usage with the frequency of diagnosis of glaucoma in a study population comprising of hundreds of volunteers. 

Researchers observed that the intake of more than 200 mg of zolpidem per year promoted the development of glaucoma. This study highlights the detrimental effect of the sleeping pill zolpidem on eye health.
