Generous intake of alcohol may accelerate the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Japanese men and women.

This research work assessed the association between the consumption of alcohol and the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Japanese population. Researchers reviewed data on alcohol intake and type 2 diabetes mellitus risk obtained from 7 prospective cohort studies.
