Association between higher consumption of ultra-processed foods and risk of diabetes and its complications: A systematic review & updated meta-analysis

Indulgence in ultra-processed foods may favor the development of diabetes and its complications.

This meta-analysis reviewed the findings of 14 published studies that found a strong link between ultra-processed food consumption and the onset of diabetes. Nearly 700,000 men and women participated in these studies.

Researchers discovered that lovers of ultra-processed foods had high risk of suffering from diabetes and its complications. This study provided additional evidence supporting the notion that generous consumption of ultra-processed foods may promote the development of diabetes and its complications.
