Inflammatory Potential of Diet is Associated with Increased Odds of Cataract in a Case-Control Study from Iran
Adhering to a pro-inflammatory diet may stimulate the formation and growth of cataracts in men and women.
This study assessed the odds of having cataracts among 295 Iranian men and women based on the inflammatory properties of their diets. Researchers used validated food frequency questionnaires to monitored the dietary habits of all the participants.
Researchers noticed that consumers of pro-inflammatory foods had high propensity to suffer from cataracts. The data from this study support the potential role of pro-inflammatory diets in the development of cataracts in men and women.
