Association between Plant-Based Dietary Patterns and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Prospective Cohort Studies

Adopting a plant-based diet may make an individual less vulnerable to having cardiovascular disease.

This meta-analysis sought to review 10 studies that provided evidence affirming the protective effect of a plant-based diet against cardiovascular disease. Nearly 700,000 men and women enrolled for these studies.

Researchers discovered that following a plant-based diet diminished cardiovascular disease risk in men and women. This meta-analysis supports the potential role plant-based diets play in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
