​Cigarette smoking can trigger the development of oral (mouth) cancer.

This research work studied the connection between cigarette smoking and the tendency of developing oral (mouth) cancer using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers examined data and evidence extracted from 15 case-control studies.

Researchers observed that the odds of having oral cancer was high in cigarette smokers compared to non-smokers. This study provides solid evidence that smoking is associated with increased risk of oral cancer.
