Validation of Dietary Antioxidant Index (DAI) and investigating the relationship between DAI and the odds of gastric cancer

Habitual ingestion of foods packed with antioxidants may help curtail the development of stomach (gastric) cancer.

This study was carried out to affirm the gastric (stomach) cancer fighting properties of antioxidant-rich foods. The study population included 82 individuals suffering from stomach cancer and 95 persons without any previous record of having this cancer.

Researchers observed that the greater the rate of consumption of antioxidant-containing foods, the lesser the likelihood of developing stomach cancer. This study suggested that maintaining a high antioxidant diet may turn the tide in favor of individuals who want to enjoy a life devoid of gastric cancer.
