Regular consumers of processed meats, such as bacon, are more prone to develop stomach cancer than rare- and non-consumers of these types of meats.

This study investigated the association between the regular intake of processed meats and the odds of developing stomach cancer. Researchers systematically reviewed nine prospective and six case-control studies that examined processed meat consumption as a risk factor for stomach cancer. They observed a significant elevation in stomach cancer risk among frequent consumers of processed meats, such as bacon. The findings of this meta-analysis suggest that high dietary ingestion of processed meats may raise an individual’s chances of developing stomach cancer.
