Dietary Flavonoid Intake and the Risk of Digestive Tract Cancers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Indulgence in flavonoid-rich foods may help ward off gastric (stomach) cancer.

This study assessed the connection between dietary intake of flavonoids and risk of developing cancer in any part of digestive tract using a meta-analytic approach. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data culled from 23 studies.

Researchers observed that the odds of avoiding gastric (stomach) cancer were tilted in favor of European men and women on high flavonoid diet. This meta-analysis documented a protective association between high consumption of flavonoid-containing foods and stomach cancer in European population.
