Alcohol consumption and mortality in the Korean Multi-Center Cancer Cohort Study.

Alcohol drinkers may have higher all-cause mortality risk.

This study investigated the effect of alcohol consumption on total mortality risk among Korean adults. Researchers examined data on alcohol intake and mortality risk ratio of 16,320 volunteers recruited from the Korean Multi-center Cancer Cohort.

The team of researchers observed that subjects who drank alcohol had elevated all-cause mortality risk. Heavy consumers of alcoholic drinks were found to be at higher risk of dying from liver and stomach cancers. The results of this study show that high total mortality risk is associated with alcohol consumption.
