Frequent consumption of dairy products and calcium from dairy sources may increase the likelihood of developing prostate cancer in men.

This research work was carried out to determine the relationship between high dietary ingestion of dairy foods and calcium and prostate cancer risk. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis on data extracted from 12 scientific publications on the subject.

The team of investigators found out that subjects with the highest intake of dairy products and calcium had greater risk of developing prostate cancer than those who consumed the least amounts or totally avoid these types of foods. The findings of this study suggest that generous intake of dairy foods and calcium from dairy sources may promote the growth and development of cancerous cells and tumors in the prostate gland.
